When I became a full-time copywriter in the summer of 2020, COVID-19 was at its peak, and many of the businesses we relied on were having to reevaluate whether they could afford to stay open.
Fortunately, we all rely on our vehicles, so the automotive repair industry did well and was given special consideration to remain open as an essential service. That meant my employer had a significant bonus, as one of the few industries doing well during the pandemic happened to be our business.
As the disease progressed and we began to resume normal activities, many new services emerged. As a copywriter, I've witnessed the remarkable rise of AI in the writing industry, transforming the way we create content. My journey with AI writing tools began with services like Copy.AI, which gained significant traction in 2023. These tools promised to revolutionize content creation by offering speed and efficiency, but they came at a cost. As a professional, I found myself questioning whether these paid services were worth the investment, especially when free alternatives like ChatGPT emerged and quickly became the frontrunners.
The arrival of free AI services, such as ChatGPT, was a game-changer. Suddenly, copywriters like myself no longer needed to pay for premium AI tools. This shift democratized access to AI-powered writing, allowing anyone to generate content with ease. However, it also raised questions about the quality and originality of AI-generated content. Content began rolling out to foreign markets, such as India and Pakistan.
But not without problems, and not without glaring errors. It appears that writing a blog in a second language is fraught with pitfalls and perils. Garbage In, Garbage Out remains the key phrase of working with AI, and there's danger in not being able to recognize garbage content for what it is.
While AI has undoubtedly made its mark on the writing industry, it's crucial to recognize that crafting a compelling blog post requires more than just entering prompts into an AI tool. Effective writing demands a deep understanding of the business's voice and mechanics. AI, in its current form, is not an independent mind; it mimics independent thought by copying and synthesizing existing content. Without the guidance of a skilled human writer, AI-generated content can often be incorrect, poorly framed, or misaligned with the client's core values and beliefs.
At Go-Kart, we take our writing seriously. Every piece of content we produce is thoroughly reviewed for context, proofread for grammatical quality, and tested for signs of poorly written AI-generated copy or plagiarism. Our commitment to excellence means that our clients receive content that meets and exceeds their expectations.
In conclusion, while AI has undeniably changed the landscape of content creation, it is the skilled human touch that truly elevates a blog post from good to great, and it's the voice of the client that makes the blog relevant to the customer they are trying to connect with. At Go-Kart, we maintain the integrity of human creativity and expertise.
